Newborn Session at Home

New parents always want to know how newborn sessions work, so here we go! Once someone has reached out to me, I always add baby’s due date to my calendar….eeeek so exciting! I know these aren’t MY babies, but I love telling friends and family that one of “my babies” is due soon!

Next, I ask that mama or dad to be text me when they’re on the way to the hospital or even a “baby is here!” text. This brings me so much joy, you don’t even know. I celebrate from afar and set a date with the new happy, tired parents as to when they want the session date to be. Some people love a “fresh 48” session and if that’s the case for you, I would be TICKLED to come to the hospital room and document your first 48 hours as a family. These are always so raw and so beautiful! If that’s not your thing, and you just want to plan a session at home, that’s totally okay!

So when does that happen? I always recommend that we plan the session when your little angel baby is around one week old. That way, you and your family have a nice chunk of time to get settled at home and baby is still scrunchy, sleepy, and itty bitty. (awwww) These sessions are baby led…does he or she need a diaper change? An outfit change? Need to feed? Baby comes first!

My style is all about CONNECTION. While I don’t incorporate too many poses or props, I do focus on the love you share as a family. I love to capture the snuggles, the way you look at your new baby and the way you look at your partner now that they’re a parent. The sweetest! I also love capturing the tiny details of your baby along with their uniquely adorable nursery. Before I leave your home, I always ask if there is anything else that mom or dad wants me to capture. I want to make sure I get anything and everything you want!

Also…I always bring the new parents some coffee because well, that’s a must. 🙂

Now about the precious family above- they are just the sweetest! There is nothing like bringing your first baby home, and they were blessed with the cutest little lady with the best hair! So beautiful, so chill, so snuggly. I love a good spring baby! Especially when her mom and dad have a gorgeous screened in porch to utilize. 🙂 And anyone who knows me knows I’m going to want to incorporate the big fur brother or sister. Babies and animals…I can’t handle it! This baby girl was so content the whole time of her session, but if your baby is having a rough day, no worries! We can reschedule, I can come back another day, I can even come back in a few hours…it is all good. 🙂
